1778, in the Ohio country, a freed Black man named Caesar is marooned with the Shawnees led by Blue Jacket.

Dayton, OH 1903.  A world renowned poet delivers the verse, "I know why the caged bird sings."

Colonel Charles Young: An American Patriot


As the highest ranking African-American Army officer in 1918, Young desired to command troops in WWI, Europe.  However, the Army refused Young's request, and told the decorated Patriot he was not healthy enough to serve.  To prove his fitness, and protest that decsion Young rode on horseback all the way from his home in Wilberforce, Ohio to Washington, D.C
